Our Destiny 2 Education History
Organisation background:
Destiny 2 Education (D2E) Ltd is a Saturday School run by experienced teachers and highly skilled volunteers. We offer literacy and numeracy as a supplementary education to young children to enhance their development. Initially D2E started as a pilot scheme, but then became a registered company. We are also all Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checked.
Founders of D2E:
D2E was started in 2008 by two qualified experienced teachers, Robinah Babirye and Doria Blake with a vision to provide safe and stimulating environment where we can reinforce the teaching and learning the student experiences at school. Philosophically, we believe that learning should be an enjoyable experience and that every pupil should be able to achieve their full potential.
Pupils work in small groups of no more than 6 pupils per group. Our unique selling point is that each group has its own teacher making it possible for each pupil to be given personal attention and for their progress to be monitored in all subjects. As a result of our small class sizes, pupils benefit from a high level of teaching support in an informal and relaxed environment.
D2E short term aims are:-
To give pupils extra support in English e.g. motivating them to enjoy reading, comprehension, different types of writing and handwriting practice.
To help them with different aspects of Mathematics e.g. real life problem solving, basic skills such as addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, measuring, data handling etc.
To help with their school homework.
We help the pupils to develop their thinking skills through verbal and non-verbal reasoning.
To assess each child’s strengths and weaknesses. We then build on these findings, hence empowering the pupils to become confident and independent learners in order to fulfil their potential.
Provide parents and carers with the skills needed to better support their child's/children's educational needs
D2E supplementary School has a selection of KS1, KS2, KS3, and GCSE papers which we can work through with your child, to help him/her prepare for their Phonics Screening Test, SATs and GCSE examination.
SCHOOL WORK / HOMEWORK:
Pupils are welcome to bring in their School work and Home work.
Tuition is normally given in 1¾ hour lessons and can be short– or long-term depending on each individual’s requirements. All classes adhere to the National Curriculum syllabus and are designed to reinforce what children are learning at school.
